[Pharmacological Actions]
1. Effects on sexual hormone contents in the blood of female white flap-eared rabbits
The high, middle and small doses of Woman Harmony Tablet can all promote the levels of estrogens such as LH, FSH and E2 in the blood of female rabbits and has the effect to reduce T level. The rise of LH and FSH levels could promote the growth and mature of follicles and these are in accordance with the main indications and actions of Woman Harmony Tablet.
2. Effects of Woman Harmony Tablet on isolated uterus
Results: The high, middle and small doses of Woman Harmony Tablet can produce some stimulation to spontaneous contraction of isolated uterus of rabbits and increase the contractile extension of smooth muscles of uterus in normal rabbits as well as the frequency of contraction. But it has no effects on contractile tensilities of uterine muscles, proving that the product has certain action of homeostasis that is in accordance with its main indications and actions.
3. Effects on the time of tail bleeding of mice administered with estrogen.
High dose [3.75g (raw drug) /kg] of Woman Harmony Tablet has obvious effects of homeostasis on mice, while the middle and small doses also shorten the tail bleeding time of mice, but with no significant differences statistically.

[Toxicity Tests]
1 . Acute toxicity tests
Mice were medicated by gastric infusion respectively with the doses that are 5, 10, 20, 40, 80 and 160 times of clinical dosage and then observed for 22 hours. The results found no mice dead in all groups and their fur color, movement, ingestion and eccrisis appeared all normal.
Maximum doses [80 or 128g (raw drug) /kg for once daily or twice daily, respectively] were administered to mice continuously for 7 days and no one was found dead. Their fur color was bright and smooth and reaction ingenious and ingestion and eccrisis were all normal. After being put to death, the main viscera of the mice such as hearts, livers, lungs and kidneys looked all normal in naked-eye observation.
2. Long term toxicity tests
In comparison with blank control group, the rats in high, middle and small dose groups of Woman Harmony Tablet presented no abnormalities in their ingestion, eccrisis, fur color and behavior during the time of medication. 60 days after medication, no abnormalities were witnessed in the weights, hemograms, biochemical indexes of blood and pathological sections of organs in rats in all groups.
The above tests demonstrate that Woman Harmony Tablet has no obvious toxic and adverse effects.

[Clinical Verification ]
During the period from Oct 1993 to Oct 1994, objective evaluation on the curative effect and safety of Woman Harmony Tablet on preceded menstrual cycle and profuse menstruation were conducted on 60 patients with these diseases in the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu Traditional Chinese Medical College. 30 patients were in treatment group and control group, respectively. The results show that the highly effective rate is 86.7% and the total effective rate is 93.3% in treatment group and the highly effective rate is 63.3% and the total effective rate is 86.7% in control group.
